Successful Spanish Students
Qualities and Practices of a Successful Spanish Student
- Take notes during class. All class. Every class.
- Write down anything and everything the teacher writes on the board/monitor/Document Camera
- Write down questions you have during class ANY time you have them
- ASK your questions in the moment if possible. ASK them late THAT CLASS/DAY if not answered in the moment.
- ASK your questions again if you are unclear/unsure of ANYTHING.
- Do all work in class to your best ability and effort.
- FINISH this work out of class if you didn’t during class.
- USE your notes to complete your homework. APPLY the information given to you to the work at hand. Write down ALL questions you have while you are doing your homework and ask the teacher the following day.
- ACTIVELY STUDY your notes. Interrogate them, re-write them, highlight them, etc.
- Actively check your homework either in class when answers are reviewed, or against the homework key. Mark what you got wrong. FIGURE OUT why you got it wrong. RE-DO any question you got wrong to get the right answer.
- Use outside sources (aka YouTube.com, SpanishDict.com, WordReference.com, StudySpanish.com) to study the class material. Having a different teaching source can help answer your questions and make things much more clear for you.
- Use conjuguemos.com to practice any and all conjugation.
- Use a dictionary (print or wordreference.com) to look up any words you do not know or understand.
- Use flashcards (paper or Quizlet) to study EVERY DAY. 5-10 minutes twice a day increases memory/familiarity a TON.
- Complete ALL extra practice offered in class and online.
- Record class if you need to. Listen to it again and again while reviewing the notes you took while hearing the original lesson.
