Monday January 29: Welcome to Semester 2!

Tuesday January 30:

  • Objective: To identify the differences between primary, secondary, and scholarly sources. Additionally, to make sure we have ways to access scholarly documents for our research.
  • Entry: 
    • What is the difference between a primary source and a secondary source?
    • What is a scholarly source? Where do you think we can reliably find them?
  • Activity
    • Access scholarly database through King County Library Links to an external site.
      • Step 1: Under the "Kids and Teens" tab, navigate to "Student Accounts"
      • Step 2: Click on "Middle and High School Students" on the left side of the page
      • Step 3: Click the "Find Online Resources from Home" link
      • Step 4: Click on the "A-Z List" button under Browse All
      • Step 5: Scroll down to the link for "eLibrary (ProQuest) and click on that link.
      • Step 6: Sign into your account. 
        • Login: 401+full student ID
        • PIN: Last four digits of student ID
    • Access JSTOR, another scholarly database.
      • Step 1: Go to JSTOR.org
      • Step 2: Click on the "Register" Link at the top
      • Step 3: Complete the online registration using your highline student email.

Wednesday/Thursday January 31/February 1

  • Objective: To get into our project teams and complete our operating agreements. Also, to create a realistic timeline for our projects and develop guiding questions for our research.
  • Entry (Check-in):
    • How did first semester go for you?
    • What is one thing about first semester you are proud of?
    • What is something you want to change or improve on in second semester?
