(12/18-12/22) Week 2 Agenda-2

Monday December 18

  • Objective: To explore one of the bigger remaining mysteries about early human migration: when did humans get to the Americas? After looking at a variety of theories we will decide which theory we find most plausible, identify that with a clear claim, and back our claim with text evidence.
  • Entry:
    • If you had to travel from eastern Asia to the North or South America today, how would you do it?
    • What level of technology would you need to be successful?
    • With no planes, motors, or even real sails, how do you think people made this journey tens of thousands of years ago?
  • Activity:
  • Closing:
    • Do you agree with the theory agreed on by the whole class, or do you find a different one more plausible?

Tuesday December 19

  • Objective: To define the term "agricultural revolution" and  to identify the major areas where humans independently developed agriculture.
  • Entry:
    • What are some of the biggest benefits of living in the modern world?
    • What are some of the biggest drawbacks?
    • Of all the food that you eat, how much (or what percentage) of it could you accurately name where it comes from?
  • Activity:
  • Closing: What were the areas in which humans independently developed agriculture first?

Wednesday/ Thursday December 20/21

Friday December 22

  • Objective: To (hopefully) have some fun and enjoy time together
  • Entry:
    • If you were an early human, would you rather have lived in an agricultural society or a foraging society?
      • Why?
    • If you had the opportunity now to transition to a foraging lifestyle with the guarantee that you would have the necessary resources available to live and no attacks or encroachment from modern humans, what would you do?
      • Why?
  • Activity:
    • Kahoot!
