  • Objective: To be able to define culture and name some of the major themes/ categories that influence large modern cultures around the world.
  • Entry: What are the dangers of a single story? Why is this important to our study of history?
  • Activity: Culture definitions and video
    • How do we define culture? 
        • Each table group will research definitions of culture and find their favorite one to share with the class via visual representation.
    • What are some of the main symbols of culture?
  • Exit: What are the most significant cultural influences in your life?

  • Objective: To continue articulating the most important pieces of your personal culture through your cultural watershed visual.

Friday September 22

  • Objective: To understand the standards your cultural watershed and personal narrative will be evaluated on and develop strategies to translate the information already communicated in your watershed into a clear, well organized narrative.
  • Entry:
    • What are the strategies you use to write essays?
    • Do you know a "formula" for mapping out a 5-paragraph essay?
  • Activity
    • Go over effective essay writing strategies.
    • Cultural watershed/ personal narrative work time.
